Room is perfect backdrop for holiday decorating

The old furniture in Mary Kendzora's Crystal Lake home prompted her to enter the Room for Living contest.

Please help me! There is no furniture other than two, 25-year-old chairs and an old dresser. I have no idea how to utilize this space or decorate this room. It is a clean room and ready to get an identity. I'm open to any ideas or designs.
