Glendale Heights apartment fire displaces residents

No injuries were reported Friday morning when a fire damaged several apartment units at the Ellyn Crossing complex on the 1800 block of Somerset Drive in Glendale Heights.

Authorities said Bloomingdale firefighters and Glendale Heights police responded at 11:50 a.m. Responding officers helped evacuate the building.

Bloomingdale Fire Department investigators are probing the cause of the fire.

The displaced residents are being assisted by Glendale Heights police community outreach specialists.

Fire crews from Addison, Carol Stream, Glenside, Glen Ellyn, Hanover Park, Itasca, Roselle and Wheaton assisted.
