Kane County Recycles hosts final event of the season Nov. 9 in Campton Hills

Kane County Recycles is hosting the last recycling event of the year for electronics and books from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 9, at a new location. It will be held at Anderson Community Park, 5N180 Brown Road, north of Route 64 in Campton Hills.

This event is for electronics and books only. It will not include document shredding or paint recycling.

Books of any age or condition, and both hardcover and paperback, are free to drop off. They are sorted and redistributed by Pacesetter Books, a church-based nonprofit that assesses books for reusability and recycles those that cannot be redistributed.

You can also bring already-shredded documents to the book recycling area for recycling; please bring them in a paper bag, stapled or taped shut.

Electronics collection will include free recycling of holiday light strings, computers, laptops, stereos, DVD players, printers, keyboards, mice, phones, electronic games, holiday light strings and more, all of which can be recycled at no charge. TVs (of any size, type, or age) and computer monitors will also be collected, but they have a cost.

The cost for recycling TVs and monitors, measured diagonally, is $25 for screens under 21 inches, and $35 for screens 21 inches and over. You can pay on-site with cash or card.

Electronics are collected and recycled by eWorks Electronics Services, a nonprofit whose mission is to employ individuals with developmental disabilities to sort and disassemble the electronic equipment. Your payment for TVs and monitors goes directly to them and helps fund that work.

For questions, contact Jennifer Jarland, recycling coordinator, at (630) 208-3841 or recycle@countyofkane.org.
