Fine Line to offer afternoon of art for veterans

On Saturday, Nov. 23, the Fine Line Creative Arts Center, 37W570 Bolcum Road in St. Charles, will be hosting an afternoon aimed specially at veterans from noon to 4 p.m.

This is the inaugural year of event that Fine Line hopes will become an annual event bringing together veterans.

The afternoon will commence with lunch at noon following which there is an opportunity to try something creative. Some spaces are available for painting, chain maille jewelry and bookbinding.

This program has been several years in the making,

Program Director Jodi Younglove explains. "When we first looked at a program for veterans, we needed to answer two questions. The first was if this would be something of interest to veterans, the second was how to fund the program. We have been fortunate in obtaining a grant from the Fisher Foundation to fund the program this year, so our second question has been answered. For the first question, time will tell! As this is our test year, we really hope for a successful afternoon so we can continue the program."

The Fine Line community knows the value art can have for both the individual and the wider community. This is their small way to give thanks to our veterans.

If you are a veteran and are interested in joining Fine Line and other veterans on Nov. 23, contact Jodi at (630) 584-9443 or email jodi@fineline.org during business hours. Spaces are limited so don't delay.
