New Firearm Restraining Order Law Explained at Program in Barrington
A free public program will be held on November 12, 2019 at 7:00 pm in Room A of the Barrington Area Library to provide information about the new Illinois Firearm Restraining Order Law.
This "red flag" law allows family members, household members, and law enforcement to work with courts to temporarily remove guns and prevent the purchase of new guns by individuals who pose a significant risk of harm to themselves or others.
The speakers, Mark Jones and Peter Contos, are members of the Speak for Safety Illinois organization. Also present will be an Assistant Illinois Attorney General to help answer questions. The program is being sponsored by the Palatine Area League of Women Voters and Barrington Area Moms Demand Action.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and the program will run from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm.
