VILLAGE OF NILES TO HOST OPEN HOUSE ON FUTURE OF GOLF MILL PARK

The Village of Niles will host an open house to gain input on the proposed design of Golf Mill Park on Wednesday, November 6, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Golf Mill Shopping Center at 239 Golf Mill Center, Space 351.

The public is encouraged to attend to view the design concepts for the park, see the possibilities and provide input. Light refreshments will be available.

The project is a proposed partnership between Village of Niles and the Niles Park District. The 10-acre park, located at Church Street and Cumberland Avenue, just south of Golf Mill is being reimagined to:

-- Provide stormwater management to mitigate flooding and reduce pollution carried in stormwater runoff.

-- Retain and improve open land and recreational park space with enhanced amenities, such as bike parking, public art,

a picnic grove, shelters, playground and event space.

The Village and Park District hired Hitchcock Design Group to design and redevelop Golf Mill Park and Hey & Associates to study and implement an improved stormwater system. Representatives from both firms will be on hand to discuss plans, answer questions and elicit feedback.

The park would continue to be a community gathering attraction for events, markets, entertainment and recreation.
