Girls volleyball: Holsen's 21 kills not enough for Stevenson

Amanda Holsen was unstoppable at the net, but the sophomore outside hitter couldn't prevent Stevenson from dropping a 25-20, 17-25, 25-23 decision to host Lake Forest in a North Suburban Conference girls volleyball showdown on Wednesday night.

Holsen finished with 21 kills, while adding 11 digs, as the Patriots (20-14, 5-1) suffered their first loss in NSC action.

Lily Cozzi added 12 kills and 11 digs for Stevenson, Grace Tulley had 32 assists and 12 digs, and Emerson Kouri collected 22 digs. Emma Potocki contributed 4 kills for the Patriots, and Abby Keevins had 2 aces and 16 digs.

Lake Forest improved to 25-8 and 4-2 in the NSC.

Lake Zurich d. Waukegan: Chelsea Williams slammed 13 kills, and the host Bears won 25-18, 25-12 in North Suburban Conference action.

Maura Ginn and Jarynn Hartman added 3 kills apiece for Lake Zurich (11-23, 3-4), while Leah Salit dished out 20 assists. Katie Keenan served a pair of aces. Keenan and Williams each had 7 digs.

Warren d. Mundelein: The Blue Devils rallied to win their Senior Night match 26-28, 25-21, 25-18, as Elizabeth Weinberg had 11 kills and 6 digs.

Faith Pollard added 7 kills, hitting at a .778 clip. Warren (14-12) also received contributions from Sarah Barbosa (3 aces, 11 digs, 2 kills), GabriElle Brewer (3 aces, 17 assists) and Kayleigh Glickley (1 ace, 14 assists).

Mundelein (5-26, 2-5) was led by Faith Krabbe with 7 kills, 12 assists and 2 blocks. Brianna Martin had 5 kills and 3 blocks for the Mustangs, and Sydney Naddy added 3 kills and 3 aces.

Wauconda d. Antioch: Delany Lemay had 7 kills, Nicole Callahan served 5 aces, and the host Bulldogs won 25-21, 25-17 to finish 6-1 in the Northern Lake County Conference.

Savannah Johnson added 4 kills, 6 assists and 2 aces for Wauconda (16-19). Wauconda also received 9 digs from Savannah Green, 3 kills from Tara Bierdz, 2 aces from Emily Johnson, and 2 aces and 7 assists from Riley Aldrich.

Antioch (24-11, 4-3) received 13 assists and 1 ace from Maiah Moll and 9 digs from Hannah Benes 9 digs. Hailey Russo had 3 kills and 6 digs for the Sequoits, and Chloe Martinez chipped in 5 digs and 2 aces.
