Driver cleared in suspected child luring in Mount Prospect

The subject of an attempted child luring community alert was cleared of wrongdoing by Mount Prospect police Friday after he heard about the alert and came into the police station and explained that he was a concerned parent, authorities said.

Police sent out the alert at 11:40 a.m. Friday after a 10-year-old girl was approached by a man in a black Jeep SUV at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday near Lincoln Street and Hi Lusi Avenue as she waited for her school bus. The driver rolled down his window and asked if she wanted a ride to school, but she declined and later told her parents about it after school.

About 2 p.m. Friday, police issued an update after speaking with the man, saying he was a concerned parent who was looking out for the girl because she was standing out in the rain.
