Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk set for Oct. 13

The Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk is an annual community hunger education and fundraising event sponsored by Church World Service.

This year's walk on Sunday, Oct. 13, will take place throughout the village of Barrington, beginning at St. Anne Catholic Community, 120 Ela St. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the walk will begin at 1 p.m.

CROP Hunger Walk funds benefit the overall work and ministry of Church World Service.

And, it's important to note that 25 percent of funds raised in Barrington stays in the area, benefiting the Northern Illinois Food Bank, the FISH Food Pantry - Carpentersville, BACOA Meals With Wheels, Wauconda-Island Lake Food Pantry, United Partnership for a Better Community Summer Lunch Program in Wauconda, Project HOPE, and the People in Need (PIN) program of the Barrington Area Ministerial Association.

While this is the 37th Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk, this year marks the 50th anniversary of CROP Hunger Walks. For half a century, CROP Hunger Walks have ensured that more people worldwide have access to nutritious, sustainable food sources.

At this year's walk, they will recognize everyone who is participating, whether for their first or 37th time.

If you have walked in the past, join them again as they mark this special anniversary of CROP Hunger Walks.

This year, the walk is sponsored by Presbyterian Church of Barrington and Barbara Trumbull is the chairwoman.
