Marmion Academy and Rosary High School recognized for making a difference
Students from Marmion Academy and Rosary High School were recognized Aug. 19 during the "Those Who Make A Difference" segment of the West Aurora Unit District 129's board of education meeting.
The students were honored for their participation in "Crayons for Kids," a school supply drive organized by both high schools that annually benefits local schoolchildren in need at more than 75 area schools and organizations.
District 129 recently held a "Back to School Bash" and distributed school supply packets to families in attendance - much of the supplies in the packets came from "Crayons for Kids."
The students in attendance at the meeting were honored with a "Making a Difference" certificate from Superintendent Jeff Craig and Director of Community Affairs Anna Gonzales. They were some of the main student leaders of this year's project and represented the 150-plus Marmion and Rosary students, faculty, staff and parents who volunteer annually to make "Crayons for Kids" a huge success.
