Girls volleyball: Cozzi leads Stevenson past Niles North
Lily Cozzi collected 13 kills, 12 digs and 2 aces, and Stevenson captured a 25-17, 25-20 win over visiting Niles North in nonconference girls volleyball action Thursday night.
Amanda Holsen added 12 kills, 10 digs and 2 aces for the Patriots (12-6). Grace Tully dished out 28 assists on 52-of-53 setting, and Makayla Uremovich contributed 3 kills.
Lakes d. Wauconda: Kelli Rettig had 12 kills and 6 digs, and the visiting Eagles won 25-12, 25-23 in Northern Lake County Conference action.
Devinn Bell tallied 22 assists and 12 digs for Lakes (11-7, 2-0). Ashley Smith (3 kills, 4 digs), Allison Stover (7 digs), Molly Reuland (4 kills), Mackenzie Stone (1 kill), Emma Martinez (3 kills, 9 digs) Tea Leonora (4 aces, 4 digs) and Amelia Plohg (7 digs) also contributed to the win.
Grayslake North d. Round Lake: Lexi Baker had 16 digs, Alyssa Gerzel added 9 kills, and the host Knights won 25-22, 25-23 in a Northern Lake County Conference match.
"It was a great defensive battle with both teams playing great defense," Grayslake North coach Jim Sarver said.
Jessica Pozezinski had 8 digs, 4 kills and 2 blocks for the Knights. Abby Cunnigham and Lindsey Diep delivered 12 and 8 assists, respectively.
Antioch d. Grant: The visiting Sequoits pulled out the Northern Lake County Conference match 25-19, 19-25, 25-18.
Jazzlyn Linbo posted 10 kills and 3 blocks for Grant, while Anelise Johnson had 5 kills. Courtney Levy notched 12 digs.
She received 29 balls and 25 were perfect passes. Taylor Fruehling also had 5 kills, and Grace Olszowka had 25 assists in her first match since suffering an injury.
