Schaumburg Public Safety Open House set for Oct. 5

Schaumburg will host its annual Public Safety Open House featuring interactive demonstrations and exhibits from the Schaumburg Fire and Police departments from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.

The free event will take place at Fire Station 51, 950 W. Schaumburg Road, and the police station, 1000 W. Schaumburg Road.

During the open house, the fire department will show off fire gear and equipment, perform vehicle extrication and cardiac resuscitation demonstrations, and offer hands-on educational experiences. Fire department personnel will be available to share valuable information about fire and life safety and answer questions about the services and programs they provide.

The police department will have vehicles on display, as well as specialized police equipment. Guided tours will be available inside the police department and detention facility. There will be educational opportunities to learn about the many divisions within the police department and gather crime prevention information. Interactive demonstrations will take place throughout the day.

Attendees are also encouraged to "Stuff-A-Truck" by bringing nonperishable items that will be donated to the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. Those who donate will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a fire department or police department safety basket.
