Girls volleyball: Finlayson, Grant net win over Waukegan

Olivia Finlayson had 6 kills, and Grant defeated visiting Waukegan 25-17, 25-14 in nonconference girls volleyball action Tuesday night.

Laine Evans added 4 aces, 4 kills and 4 digs for Grant (8-7). The Bulldogs' other contributors included Anelise Johnson (1 block, 3 kills), Jazzlyn Linbo (1 block, 3 kills) and Courtney Levy (1 ace, 15 digs).

Benet Academy d. Carmel: The host Redwings earned a 25-20, 25-22 decision to improve to 18-0 and 3-0 in the East Suburban Catholic Conference.

Deerfield d. Vernon Hills: The host Cougars lost 25-13, 22-25, 25-15 to fall to 8-9 and 0-3 in the Central Suburban League North Division.

Daniella Jarrell had 4 kills, 3 blocks and 3 aces for Vernon Hills, while Ashley Murphy pounded 3 kills. Abby Wisniewski totaled 12 digs and 13 assists.
