Support classical music with Autumn Picnic Gala Sept. 14

The Fox Valley Music Consortium will host a fun-filled Autumn Picnic Gala from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Belle Salle Banquets in Aurora. This fundraising event will include games, buffet dinner and silent and live auctions.

The 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization provides orchestral musical performances for people of all ages and educational opportunities for youth in the Fox Valley community. The organization's ability to continue to operate is due in large part to the generous support of individual donors and patrons, as well as gifts from businesses and corporations from the community they serve.

It encompasses the Fox Valley Orchestra, Fox Valley Orchestra Chorus, Fox Valley Brass Band, Fox Valley Youth Orchestra, Fox Valley Youth Chorus and Fox Valley El Sistema programs, plus the newly added Jazz Band and Chamber Singers. They offer many cultural experiences and educational opportunities for adults and youth; and provide teachers, instruments, and instructional curriculum for disadvantaged students in after-school programs at 19 public and private schools in Aurora.

The Fox Valley Music Consortium partners with many organizations including the Fox Valley Park District, Communities in Schools, East Aurora Unit District 131, West Aurora Unit District 129, and Covenant Christian School to bring these programs to children eager to learn and experience music.

Tickets are $80. To register for gala tickets by Sept. 10, go to foxvalleyorchestra.org/order.php.

In addition, you can participate in the silent auction prior to the date of the event by following the links on the same website. You also can support the organization by donating, becoming a sponsor or advertiser for the upcoming 2019/20 concert season.
