49ers sign DB Exum, place DL Street on IR

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - The San Francisco 49ers have signed defensive back Antone Exum Jr. to a one-year deal and placed defensive lineman Kentavius Street on injured reserve.

Street made the initial 53-man roster despite a knee injury but was placed on IR on Sunday, making him eligible to return any time after eight weeks. Street was originally a fourth-round pick by San Francisco in 2018 and spent all of last season on injured reserve.

Exum spent training camp with the 49ers and was released on Saturday. He has played 43 games over four seasons in the NFL.

The Niners also signed nine players to their practice squad. The players are linebackers Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles and Elijah Lee; defensive linemen Kevin Givens and Jeremiah Valoaga; safety Marcell Harris; tight end Daniel Helm; receiver Malik Henry; offensive lineman Ross Reynolds; and running back Jeff Wilson Jr.
