Cooking program in Vernon Hills

Registration is open for a free cooking program at McAlister's Deli, 99 E. Townline Road, Vernon Hills. Sponsored by the Cook Memorial Public Library District, the class is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12. Participants will learn how to create easy deli dishes, including something off the McAlister's menu. Pastry chef Cathi Volante will share cake decorating techniques, too.
