Woodridge police seeking suspects after shoplifting, crash into squad car

Woodridge police are seeking three suspects accused of shoplifting from a department store, then crashing their car into an unoccupied police vehicle as they tried to get away, authorities said Tuesday.

Two suspects wanted in connection with shoplifting reported Tuesday morning at Kohl's on 75th Street were taken into custody in a nearby neighborhood, Woodridge police spokesman Jim Hoff said in a news release. But after the suspects' vehicle crashed into a police car, three others were able to get away.

Police described the suspects as:

• A black woman in her 20s wearing a pink hat.

• A black woman in her 20s wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt.

• A black man in his late teens with short hair wearing a black jogging suit.

Officers are looking for the suspects and ask anyone who sees them or notices any suspicious activity in the area to call 911. Hoff said police are advising residents not to approach the suspects if spotted.

"We just want to be cautious," he said.

Police continue to investigate and are still working on potential charges against the suspects, Hoff said.

The squad car affected by the crash still can be driven but suffered rear-end damage and will need repairs, he said.
