Wheaton centenarian donates 100 Barbies to Humanitarian Service Project

When the staff at Travanse Senior Living at Wheaton asked Peter what he wanted for his birthday he responded with a common response - "good health." Peter was reminded that he received that gift last year, and the year before …

A much more creative twist was proposed to Peter. "How about we invite 100 Beautiful Beach Babes to wish you a happy birthday?"

Peter's chuckled response: "Do you want me to live or die at this party?"

Peter's love of children sparked the idea to have the community donate 100 Barbies that could be distributed in his name to the Humanitarian Service Project of Carol Stream.

With some last-minute help from Target of Wheaton, the World War II Army veteran was able to reach his goal.

These Barbies will be used in the Humanitarian Service Project "Birthday Boxes."
