Schaumburg's Chicago Paint & Coatings Association volunteers repaint a Chicago Public School

This year the Community Relations Committee of the Chicago Paint & Coatings Association hosted its 23rd annual "Paint a Brighter Chicago" project on Saturday, Aug. 10 at.9:00 AM at Gray Elementary, 3730 N. Laramie Avenue, Chicago, IL 60641

This project is designed to brighten the environment for schools in great need in the Chicago area. This year we partnered with Bright Promise Fund to select a school which our organization feels can greatly benefit from our volunteer services: Gary Elementary.

"Bright Promise Fund currently has six member schools and three affiliate schools in a variety of neighborhoods in downtown Chicago. Their mission is to strengthen and sustain partner Christian schools by generating new sources of revenue so that more families may experience and benefit from urban Christian education. They are looking to us for gifts of labor and paint supplies to better the environment of schools that do their best to make a quality Christian education affordable in urban areas of Chicago," according to Christy Marcuccelli and Kathryn Carroll, members of the Chicago Paint & Coatings Association's Community Relations Committee

The cohort of schools that are members of Bright Promise Fund are open to children of all backgrounds and ensure that they provide opportunity to children from families of all income levels by scaling their tuition based on need-wealthier families know and understand that their higher tuition is going to give children from low-income families the opportunity to have the same great education. We have also observed the difference that we as an organization could make by offering our services to these urban schools whose budgets are just too tight to hire out painting and repairs. Gray Elementary is one of the schools that exhibited these needs, and we feel that with the number of volunteers that the Community Relations Committee has been able to draw in the past, we can make an impact on both schools.

The Chicago Paint & Coatings Association consists of paint manufacturers and those who provide ingredients for paint. The group is over 100 years old.
