St. Emily School Welcomes New Principal

St. Emily Catholic School and Parish is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Amy

DuMez as the new Principal. Mrs. DuMez comes to St. Emily from St. John Brebeuf School in

Niles, IL where she served as the 3rd grade teacher for the past four years. Mrs. DuMez has a

Master of Education in Teaching & Learning and a Master of Education in Educational

Leadership, both coming from DePaul University in Chicago.

Mrs. DuMez began her teaching career at Queen of All Saints School in Chicago. She has taught in both public and private schools but her passion lies within Catholic education.

"Catholic school students learn that excellence is a response to God's blessings. Academic

excellence is not a gospel value in and of itself. The Sermon on the Mount doesn't say 'Blessed

are you who get all A's.' Education must have an altruistic orientation. Students learn so as to

help others, and make a difference in the world around them." - Reverend Ronald J. Nuzzi

Mrs. DuMez and her husband Roger have three children: Kenny, Kyle and Liza. Her children are currently completing their higher education all across the nation. Kenny being in Boston, Kyle in Milwaukee, and Liza in Fort Worth. Besides being passionate about education, Mrs. DuMez is an avid photographer. She has been hired for several weddings, family portraits, and other events. Mrs. DuMez is planning on using this talent in order to capture all of the great things about St. Emily's parish and school throughout this upcoming year.

Mrs. DuMez could not be more excited about receiving this new position and is excited to

welcome the students back to school on Aug. 20. She is looking forward to meeting the beautiful families of St. Emily and is always available to answer any questions or concerns. The children's happiness, safety, and education is and always will be her number one priority and she is ready to do everything in her power to make sure their needs are respected, regarded, and fulfilled.
