When last seen at Guaranteed Rate Field, the Sox were sinking fast. They went 2-8 on a homestand vs. the Marlins, Twins and Mets, dropping them to 4-16 to start the second half of the season. The White Sox got well on the road, going 5-2 on a trip to Philadelphia and Detroit. The Sox won three of four at Detroit earlier this week, scoring 26 runs in the series. Shortstop Tim Anderson was 13-for-29 on the trip, first baseman Jose Abreu was 12-for-32, and catcher James McCann was 9-for-22. The Athletics head to the South Side after starting the week at Wrigley Field vs. the Cubs. Oakland lost two of three to the Cubs. The White Sox are 3-14 vs. the A's since 2017. They were swept in a three-game series at Oakland coming out of the all-star break.
