Two days of fun at Lakemoor Fest, Aug. 9 and 10

Food, fireworks, music and more will be featured at Lakemoor Fest this weekend.

Festival hours are 5-11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, and noon to midnight Saturday, Aug. 10.

Lakemoor Fest will take place at Morrison Park, 233 Rand Road, Lakemoor.

A highlight of the event every year is the fireworks display, which will take place around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Scheduled musical performances include the Modern Day Romeos from 7:30-11 p.m. Friday and Exit 147 from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday (with a break for the fireworks).

Other activities include an all-ages show by Poww Entertainment at 7 p.m. Friday, a petting zoo from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, face-painting from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, a water balloon toss at 1 p.m. Saturday and the Police and Fire departments on hand at 2 p.m. Saturday.

A fishing derby for ages 15 and under will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday. Worms will be provided; bring your own pole. A fishing license is not required. There will be a $2 registration fee.

A bean bag tournament for ages 18 and older will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Registration is $20 per team.

Advance registration is available for the fishing derby and bean bag tournament at the festival website.

A 50/50 raffle will be held, with drawings Friday and Saturday evening. Tickets will be $1 for one, or six for $5. Proceeds benefit the Lakemoor Scholarship Program and Lakemoor Fest.

Food vendors scheduled to be on hand include: MJ's Coffee Bar, Plum Garden, McDago's, Taco Factory, Trainwreck Smoking Co., My Funnel, E & W Catering, Auntie Vee's, Krueger's Farm and Old Town Pizza. Food trucks will include Stix & Noodles, Cookies with Flavor and Perk N' Pickle. Beach front vendors scheduled for Saturday include MJ's Coffee Bar, Riverside Chocolate Factory, Nancy's Pizza of Island Lake and Los 2 Primo's of Lakemoor.

Beer and other adult beverages will also be available for festivalgoers over 21. Drink wristbands are $5 per day.

Admission to Lakemoor Fest is free.
