Still time to apply for Schaumburg's Septemberfest Court

The village of Schaumburg has extended its deadline to Thursday, Aug. 15, for applications to its Septemberfest Court.

Five individuals will be selected and awarded with a $500 scholarship, in addition to attending Septemberfest activities throughout Labor Day weekend.

The Septemberfest Court is open to young men and women involved in the community. Applicants must be 17 to 20 years old and in their senior year of high school or freshman year of college, a citizen of the United States, and a Schaumburg resident.

This will be the second Septemberfest with a court made up of five men and women of equal standing. Previous courts consisted of the winner and four runners-up of a Miss Septemberfest scholarship competition.

Winners will be present at all fest activities from Saturday, Aug. 31, through Monday, Sept. 2, wearing matching polo shirts.

Tasks include announcing musical acts, volunteering in the fire department safety booth, assisting children on the pony rides, participating in the parade and attending both the Septemberfest Committee and village board meetings before the fest.

More information and the application form are available on the village's website. Interviews will be Sunday, Aug. 18.
