Mount Prospect offers parenting course

The Mount Prospect Human Services Department is hosting a six-session parenting course, "Parenting the Love and Logic Way," developed by the Love and Logic Institute designed to help parents find specific answers and actions for some of those difficult moments in child rearing.

These simple techniques are effective with all children, from toddlers to teens. The program is intended to give practical skills that can be used immediately.

Through the class, parents will learn to:

• Stay calm when kids do upsetting things;

• Help kids learn from mistakes;

• Set enforceable limits;

• Avoid un-winnable power struggles and arguments.

The class will be offered in English and Spanish. Classes will be held in English Tuesdays at the village hall, 50 S. Emerson St., Mount Prospect, from 5:30-7 pm., starting Tuesday, Sept. 3.

The Spanish class will be held at the Community Connections Center, 1711 W. Algonquin Road, Mount Prospect, from 5-7 pm. beginning Wednesday, Sept. 4.

The cost of the program is $10, which includes a workbook.
