Friendship Village Celebrates the Wild West

It was an adventurous return to the American frontier. Residents of Friendship Village retirement community celebrated the Wild West during the month of July. Planned by the resident-run activities committee, the festivities included cowboy-themed programming, field trips, western-inspired crafts, and displays. Entertainment included screenings of western movies, a live musical performance by Rick Pickren singing Songs of the Singing Cowboys, and a presentation by historian John Boda talking about the Wild West.

The celebration culminated with the final Wild West Event which included dancing, panning for gold, games, displays of western-themed memorabilia, and more.

"Our residents really took the idea of western-themed festivities and ran with it, preparing so many fun programs and activities," said Donna Brown, lifestyles activities manager. "It was a successful event that was enjoyed by all!"
