On Thursday, Aug. 1, the Lisle Community Jazz Band will perform big band jazz music by Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Chick Corea, and Chuck Mangione.

The free concerts are held at 7:30 p.m. at the Lisle Park District Band Shell in Lisle Community Park, east side of Lisle's Sea Lion Aquatic Park, 1825 Short St.

The Lisle Community Band was established in 1987, with the purpose of providing high quality musical performances for the residents and guests of the Village of Lisle.

The band provides local musicians an opportunity to be a member of a quality instrumental ensemble and continue their lifelong love of learning and performing music.

The band experience allows musicians to have fun making music together; develop musical talents; and also promotes musical and social exchange.

While some band members are accomplished active performers, most are teachers, business professionals, retired individuals, or students, all with a shared passion for learning and performing the finest musical literature.
