Lake Barrington against recreational marijuana sales
Lake Barrington village board members are against allowing the sale of recreational marijuana in town.
Village Administrator Karen Daulton Lange said the board reached consensus on the issue during a nonvoting committee meeting last week. An ordinance eventually will go before the village board for consideration reflecting its position, she said.
Communities across the state are determining how to proceed when the recreational use of marijuana becomes legal in Illinois beginning Jan. 1. Towns can't outlaw its use, but they can decide to prohibit businesses that sell it or restrict their location.
