Mount Prospect makes wait pleasant

It was April 29, and as usual I had waited until the last minute to obtain my annual Mount Prospect auto sticker.

I was prepared for a long wait. But, as I entered the finance department at city hall, I was greeted by a staff member who handed me a number, another who directed me to a pleasant waiting room with tables and chairs, coffee and refreshments, and other staff members available to help anyone who needed help with their forms.

I was number 62 and they were serving number 31, but my wait was a mere 15 minutes, during which I had pleasant conversations with fellow residents about the "good old days" when village stickers cost $20. It was so nice to be able to sit and wait instead of standing in the overcrowded vestibule. When it was my turn, the ladies I see every year at the counter were upbeat, courteous and efficient.

Kudos to the Mount Prospect finance staff for making the sticker purchase process so much more pleasant for my fellow procrastinators and me.
