Sheriff's office: Five Lake County teens arrested in McHenry County after stolen SUV abandoned

Four 19-year-old men and one 15-year-old boy from Lake County were charged after they fled a stolen vehicle Monday afternoon in the Crystal Lake area, according to the McHenry County sheriff's office

According to a news release issued Tuesday night, deputies ran the license plate of a 2015 Dodge Durango near Route 31 and Rakow Road and discovered it had been reported stolen from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

The driver, identified as Zishon Hunt, 19, of Zion, fled when authorities tried to stop the SUV, which later was found abandoned on the Route 14 bridge over Route 31, the sheriff's office said. Witnesses reported seeing six people run from the vehicle in two directions.

After a search involving two sheriff's police dogs and officers from Cary, Crystal Lake and the Crystal Lake Park District, five teens were captured.

Hunt was charged with possession of a stolen automobile, aggravated fleeing and eluding, leaving the scene of an accident, obstruction, reckless driving, and driving with no valid license, the news release said. His bond was set at $60,000, and he has a Thursday court date in Woodstock.

Amil Little, 19, of Beach Park, Izerion Cooper, 19, of Waukegan, Maurice Dixon, 19, of Waukegan, and a 15-year-old boy from Zion were charged with resisting arrest, the news release said. Bond was set at $1,500 each for Cooper, Dixon and Little. Cooper has a July 18 court date, while Dixon and Little are scheduled to appear in court July 25.

The sixth suspect has not been found.
