Pitching matchups: he White Sox's Ivan Nova (3-5) vs. RHP Homer Bailey (4-6) Friday at 7:15 p.m.; Lucas Giolito (8-1) vs. Brad Keller (3-7) Saturday at 1:15 p.m.; Reynaldo Lopez (3-6) vs. Glenn Sparkman (1-1) Sunday at 1:15 p.m.

At a glance: The Sox opened their road trip with two interleague losses at Washington. They are 6-3 vs. Kansas City this season (1-2 at Kauffman Stadium). White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson has been hit by pitches in each of his last two games vs. the Royals, and both incidents have been controversial. Nova has been much better on the road (3-2, 4.57 ERA) than at home (0-3, 9.39). Kansas City has lost six in a row and is buried in the AL Central basement with a 19-43 record. Naperville Central H.S. product Nicky Lopez is batting .217 in his first 20 games with K.C.
