Geneva Garden Club names scholarship winners

The Geneva Garden Club is very proud to recognize their 2019 scholarship recipients.

Anastasia Kurth, a second-time winner, will receive $4,000, She will be a sophomore at University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She is majoring in soil and crop science, environmental horticulture and a minor in agribusiness. She is a member of the Collegiate Crop Team and competes in regional and national contests with knowledge in crop and weed identification, grain grading and seed analysis.

Maxwell Olesen will receive $2,000. He is a 2019 Geneva High School graduate planning on attending University of Pittsburgh in the fall with studies in mechanical or environmental engineering with an emphasis in sustainability and clean energy. He has an interest in learning what can be done to improve the environment or improve technology to protect the environment.

The Geneva Garden Club, founded in 1928, is affiliated with the Garden Clubs of Illinois. Over 90 years, its goals have remained the same: beautification of the community, preservation of the natural environment, and the promotion of horticultural education. The club and its members have undertaken many projects over the years to further these goals.
