Vernon Hills school hosts Civil War Day

Residents living near Hawthorn Middle School North, 201 Hawthorn Parkway in Vernon Hills, can expect to hear the sound of simulated cannons firing during two periods of the day Thursday, as the school hosts Civil War Day, according to village police.

The cannons will fire between 7:50 a.m. - 8:10 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.
