Carr scores in double OT, Wolves even series
SAN DIEGO - American Hockey League MVP Daniel Carr scored 6:01 into the second overtime to give the Chicago Wolves a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Gulls in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals on Friday night before 12,147 at Pechanga Arena.
Defenseman Griffin Reinhart scored in regulation for the Wolves (9-6), who evened the best-of-seven series ahead of Saturday's Game 5 in San Diego. Goaltender Oscar Dansk (8-5) stopped 41 shots
Reinhart scored his first postseason goal at 4:17 of the second period. The Wolves forced a turnover in the offensive zone, Tomas Hyka took possession near the right circle and found Reinhart skating down the middle alone. Reinhart whistled a shot through San Diego goaltender Kevin Boyle's five-hole to give Chicago the 1-0 lead.
The Wolves proceeded to outshoot the Gulls 16-3 in the middle frame to give them a 31-12 advantage through 40 minutes.
San Diego (9-5) pulled even on forward Justin Kloos' goal at 3:36 of the third that forced the second overtime of this series. The Wolves owned a 36-21 shots advantage during regulation.
Boyle (3-1) finished with 41 saves.
The Wolves and Gulls meet for Game 5 at 9 p.m. Saturday in San Diego. The series returns to Allstate Arena for Game 6 at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 27.
