Skender breaks ground on senior living facility

CRYSTAL LAKE - Skender Construction has broken ground on Residences of Crystal Lake, a Turnstone Development-owned senior living facility located in Crystal Lake.

The new three-story, 63,000-square-foot facility will offer 60 affordable living units for seniors, and includes 5 ADA-accessible units, 12 adaptable units and 2 sensory units. The facility also includes a fitness area, theater room and community room.

Skender is serving as base building and interior construction manager, and is working in collaboration with Chicago-based design firm UrbanWorks, civil engineering firm GroundWork, Ltd. and owner's representative DKI, Inc. to successfully complete the design-build project by March 2020.

Turnstone Development, a not-for-profit 501(c) (3), has developed more 1,680 affordable housing units for low-income families and seniors in Illinois and Florida since 1998.
