Take care with headlines on sensitive case

When I read headlines above about the Kokoraleis case, I couldn't help but ask which are trying to inform me, and which are trying to excite my emotions and perhaps exploit a very serious situation for the offender and the victim's family.

When dealing with situations like these, there is no easy solution. On average, it costs approximately $32,000 per year to house an offender that we as taxpayers fund. If a person has served their time and desires to contribute to society and many times even pay back, we should make that opportunity available without forgetting those that have been harmed.

Has the "news" stooped to sensationalism, to compete with unmentionable tablets we see at the checkout counters. I trust not. We are so in need of factual reporting, not biased information or headlines that exploit all involved. One of the standards you set forth is no personal attacks. The headlines come very close to doing that.

Thank you for taking the lead in professional journalism in the future. Perhaps your organization can establish a high standard for others to follow.
