Baseball: Nowicki tosses no-hitter for Barrington

RJ Nowicki threw a five-inning no-hitter Wednesday as Barrington defeated Schaumburg 10-0 in a Mid-Suburban West baseball game.

Rayth Petersen (2 RBI), John Seagrist (2 hits, 4 RBI) and Jon Gardner (2B) led the offense for the Broncos (23-5, 12-2).

Schaumburg fell to 8-16, 4-10 with the loss.

Hersey 6, Prospect 1: James Denten allowed just 1 hit over six innings with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks while adding a double with his bat to lead the Huskies (14-12, 7-7) to an MSL East win. AJ Ceffalio (2B), Daniel Clawson (2B, RBI) and Jake Irwin (2B, RBI) each had 2 hits for Hersey and Dan Kubsik drove in 2 runs. Ed Brancato's double was the only hit for Prospect (12-13-1, 7-7).

Palatine 6, Conant 0: Shailan Rajpurkar fired a 1-hitter with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks to lead Palatine (18-11-1, 10-4) to the MSL West win. Tyler Pecson drove in 2 runs and Josh Stitt had a double for the Pirates. Teague Conrad had the only hit for Conant (8-19, 4-9).

Fremd 9, Hoffman Estates 1: Austin Higgins had 2 hits with a triple and Brent Swenson a double and 2 RBI as Fremd (16-9, 11-3) won the MSL West game. TJ Davis added 2 hits for the Vikings. Adam Davis picked up the win on the mound, going four innings and allowing 4 hits with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks. Jordan Acosta had 3 hits for the Hawks (3-22-2, 2-12).

Elk Grove 8, Meadows 1: Josh Periaswamy had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Ryne Singsank added 2 hits and an RBI for Elk Grove (12-9, 9-3) in its MSL East win. Nick Hoffmann was the winning pitcher. Sean Nolan had the only hit for Rolling Meadows (4-18, 2-11).

Vernon Hills 3, Maine West 2: Sam Arnold, Emmett Olson and Anthony Salemi had doubles for Maine West (11-11-1) in a Central Suburban North loss in eight innings.

Lake Forest 15, St. Viator 7: Jack Mahoney had a home run, double and 5 RBI and Owen Hickey added 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI for St. Viator (14-11) in a nonconference loss.
