18 artists displaying works in West Chicago

Works by 18 artists are on display at two downtown West Chicago locations through June 4 as part of the Cultural Arts Commission's annual multimedia art exhibit "Artéculture."

The works have been placed at Kindred Coffee Roasters at 148 W. Washington St. and Gallery 200, 103 West Washington St. Both venues are within walking distance of each other and will allow more artists to participate.

"Having a second location became necessary in order to accommodate the terrific response we received from artists throughout Chicagoland, including Naperville, Wheaton, Downers Grove, and of course, West Chicago," Cultural Arts Commission staff liaison Rosemary Mackey said.

Almost 40 pieces in a variety of medium, technique and style have been registered for the show. Commission members Buddy Plumlee, Sara Phalen and Lew Achenbach have been working behind the scenes to ready both venues for the monthlong exhibit.
