Hawthorn District 73 Welcomes New Board Member Joel Finfer

At the April 29 board meeting, Joel Finfer was sworn in as a new Hawthorn School District 73 Board of Education member. He will serve a four-year term. Additionally, former board members Sonali Patil, Robin Cleek, Victoria Helander-Heiser, and George Fievet were officially sworn in to their new terms.

"We are so pleased to have a marketing veteran on our team," said Hawthorn District 73 Interim Superintendent Mark Friedman. "We are excited by the talent, expertise and energy that he brings to the table. This board as a whole has great energy and skills to proficiently move the District's agenda forward."

A resident of Vernon Hills, Joel Finfer is retired from a four-decade career in sales and marketing. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Northern Illinois University and brings the Hawthorn District 73 School Board 30 years of passionate advocacy for public education. Joel served on the school board of Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire and currently serves on the board of the Stevenson High School Community Foundation. The titles he holds most dear are husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather.

Hawthorn School District 73 is a preschool through eighth-grade public school district serving more than 4,200 students. It serves all or portions of the communities of Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Libertyville, Indian Creek and unincorporated areas of Lake County, Illinois.
