Baseball: Fremd, Palatine earn MSL wins

Charlie Towns and Brent Swenson each had 3 hits Thursday as Fremd's baseball team remained undefeated in the Mid-Suburban League with a 9-3 crossover win against Buffalo Grove.

Towns had a double and 4 RBI for the Vikings (9-6, 5-0) while Swenson added a triple and an RBI.

Also contributing to the Fremd offense were Connor Giusti (2 RBI), Ryan Kiolbassa (2 hits) and TJ Davis (2 doubles).

Peter Hiller earned the win on the mound, pitching 5 innings in relief and allowing 2 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Matt Brunelli had 2 RBI for BG (9-6, 3-3).

Palatine 7, Hersey 1: Jake Anderson hit a 2-run home run and Eric Pecson had an RBI triple to lead the Pirates (9-9-1, 3-2) to the MSL win. Tyler Pecson and Luke Popovic added 2 hits each for Palatine. Josh Stitt was the winning pitcher, going five innings and allowing 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Daniel Clawson had 2 hits with a double for Hersey (9-8, 3-3).

Maine South 4, Niles West 3: Timmy O'Brien stole home with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for Maine South (12-7). Bobby Insera had 2 hits and Zander Buchan drove in 2 runs for the Hawks.
