Cook County Health Provides Tips to Reduce Stress
With today's hustle and bustle, many people are finding themselves stressed. Maybe you are looking for better work-life balance and just can't seem to find it. Well, take some deep breaths. Nothing is worth risking your health, and stress can affect many parts of our bodies.
A Gallup research poll found that eight in 10 Americans "frequently" or "sometimes" felt stressed throughout the day.
It's important to manage your stress and make sure you are properly taking care of your health by eating properly, exercising regularly and getting enough sleep. If you find yourself getting anxious with all you have to do, sit back and take a couple of slow, deep breaths until you feel some tension release.
Make sure to take breaks from your workspace. Sometimes, taking a quick five-minute break from our computer and phone screens can make all the difference. Mediation and listening to music have proven to be beneficial to decompress, as well.
Common signs to look for if you are suffering from frequent stress include:
• Lack of sleep
• Regular headaches
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Increased agitation
