Cordell hits for cycle with Class AAA Charlotte

INDIANAPOLIS - It's been an interesting week for Ryan Cordell.

On Sunday, he started in right field for the White Sox and had a run-scoring double in his first at-bat against the Mariners. That gave him 3 RBI in 3 at-bats with the Sox.

After the game, Cordell was optioned to Class AAA Charlotte.

Possibly using the demotion as motivation, Cordell hit for the cycle Wednesday in Charlotte's 10-9 win over Norfolk.

The 26-year-old outfielder singled in the seventh to complete the feat and was 5-for-5 in the game. Cordell became the first Charlotte player to hit for the cycle since Alex Gonzalez in 1998.
