Nominations due for John Egan Distinguished Service Awards and Man of the Year honors

Following the National "Character Counts!" Program, the John Egan Distinguished Service Awards recognize people in the community who excel in the areas of trustworthiness, caring, citizenship, fairness, responsibility, and respect. The awards began in 1997 and were renamed in 2003 after the late John Egan, 2-time Man of the Year recipient and past Lombard Jaycees president.

The Man of the Year program began in 1952 and recognizes men who exemplify all six areas of the "Character Counts!" program and have a positive impact on the Village of Lombard. Past Man of the Year winners are not eligible for Man of the Year consideration. For more information about the areas, visit www.charactercounts.org.

Nominees must live or work in Lombard. Parents, business owners, coaches, community leaders, neighbors, teachers, and church leaders are some examples of where to begin your search. The online nomination form can be found by visiting this link: forms.gle/Z7FNaiFBW7oECDbk8.

Nominations must be received by Friday, April 19.

Winners will be notified by phone. An awards ceremony will be held at the village hall community room at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8 to honor all John Egan Distinguished Service Awards winners, Man of the Year nominees, and the Man of the Year recipient.

Additionally, the Man of the Year will be invited to ride in the Village of Lombard's Lilac Day Parade on Sunday, May 19.
