Kaneland District 302 board taking applicants for vacancy

The Kaneland Unit District 302 board currently seeks applicants to fill an existing vacancy.

The individual selected will serve on the school board from the date of appointment through the April 2021 consolidated election.

Membership on the board of education is restricted to a maximum of three members from any congressional township. Pursuant to the board policy, this appointee cannot reside in Sugar Grove Township.

Interested applicants should submit a letter of application and resume to the Board of Education at 47W326 Keslinger Road, Maple Park, IL 60151, by 3 p.m. Friday, April 12.

Applicants must be a United States citizen; be at least 18 years of age; a resident of Illinois and the Kaneland district for at least one year preceding the appointment; be a registered voter; not be a child sex offender; not hold another incompatible public office; not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the district; not be a school trustee; and not hold certain types of prohibited state or federal employment.

Applicants should show familiarity with the board's policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a board and a board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics and gift ban.

The board of education will review all applications, interview selected candidates and make a selection by April 29.
