Blackhawks officially eliminated from playoffs
It's official: The Blackhawks will miss the Stanley Cup playoffs for a second straight season.
Colorado's 6-2 victory over Edmonton on Tuesday gives the Avs 88 points, 8 more than the Blackhawks, who have just three games remaining. Colorado is still fighting with Arizona for the final wild-card spot in the West.
The Avs overcame a 2-0 deficit by scoring 4 goals in just more than seven minutes against Edmonton. Nathan MacKinnon got the comeback started with his 40th goal of the season.
The Hawks, whose final games are against St. Louis, Dallas and Nashville, have a 3.5 percent chance of moving up to the top pick in the draft, according to tankathon.com and an 11.4 percent chance of earning any of the top three picks. The draft lottery will be shown on NBCSN at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
