Great Lakes report shows need to act on climate

The Daily Herald article, "Report: Great Lakes feeling effects of rapid climate warming" on March 21 brought climate change uncomfortably close to home.

I do not understand how some people can doubt that our planet is in serious trouble with what is now predicted for our Great Lakes region and the constant weather disasters befalling our neighbors in other states.

But what angers me the most is what our inaction on climate change will mean for our children and grandchildren. How can we gamble with their future this way? I truly fear that my children will not have a chance to live the quality of life I was lucky to have.

Hundreds of thousands of young people around the world showed that they are furious too when they recently marched to protest climate change inaction. We should all follow their lead by contacting our members of Congress to demand that they support a carbon tax and dividend bill to reduce carbon emissions before it is too late.
