For Blackhawks, the numbers don't lie

I've always been a numbers guy. So much so that at 4 years old I'd create calendar after calendar with my crayons while sitting on the living room floor of our house in Buffalo Grove.

Must be in my DNA.

It's a big reason I pass along what many of the Blackhawks have accomplished - and what they still might accomplish - as each season ends.

For Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat, it's a long list - and a more impressive one than last year.

Patrick Kane

• Moved past Steve Larmer into fourth place in Hawks history with 932 points. Next up is Denis Savard's 1,096.

• Moved past Doug Wilson into third place with 579 assists. Denis Savard is second with 719.

• Recorded the second 20-game point streak of his career. He holds the top two spots among American-born players, with his 26-game run in 2015-16 being No. 1.

• Needs 6 goals and 3 points to break career highs of 46 and 106, set in 2015-16

• Has career high in shots on goal (312) and total shot attempts (542). Previous highs were 292 and 511.

• Will set career high in average time on ice. It sits at 22:25 and previous high was 21:24.

• Has most turnovers of his career (52).

Alex DeBrincat

• With 68 career goals, DeBrincat ranks sixth in team history for most goals scored before their 22nd birthday behind Patrick Kane (83), Jonathan Toews (83), Denis Savard (84), Bobby Hull (86) and Jeremy Roenick (111). DeBrincat will turn 22 Dec. 18.

• With 2 goals against San Jose Thursday, he became the youngest Blackhawk (21 years, 100 days) to score 40 goals in a season, besting Steve Larmer (21 years, 284 days).

• Became the fourth Hawks player 21 or younger to net 35 or more goals in a season.

• Became youngest player in team history to score 7 or more goals in the team's first seven games.

• Scored his 25th goal of season Jan. 20, becoming just the sixth U.S.-born player to notch 25 or more goals in multiple seasons before turning 22.

• Became eighth Blackhawk to start career with consecutive 20-plus goal seasons.

• Became eighth Blackhawk to post 70-plus points in a season before 22nd birthday, joining Denis Savard (three times), Patrick Kane (three times), Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Steve Larmer, Eddie Olczyk and Jeremy Roenick.

Jonathan Toews

• Moved past Dennis Hull and into sixth place in Hawks history with 325 goals.

• Moved into eighth place in assists with 425.

• Needs 2 goals and 1 point to break career highs of 34 and 76.

• Needs 7 shots on goal and 4 total shot attempts to break career highs of 233 and 344.

• Average ice time (20:56) just seconds more than career high (20:51).

• Has posted a career high in blocked shots with 39, besting the 38 he blocked three seasons ago.

• With 750 career points, Toews should move past Doug Wilson (779) and into sixth place next season.

Brent Seabrook

• Scored 100th career goal at New Jersey Jan. 14. He's only one of three Hawks defensemen to accomplish that feat. The others were Doug Wilson (225) and Bob Murray (132).

• Has career-worst minus-9 rating (previous worst was minus-6 in 2006-07).

• Average ice time (19:15) is a career low. Previous low was 20:02 in rookie season.

• Needs 4 blocks to break career high of 170.

Duncan Keith

• Played his 1,000th game against St. Louis Oct. 13 at the United Center.

• Needs 2 goals for 100 in career.

• Could be only second time Keith doesn't score a power-play goal (2006-07).

• Needs 36 assists to move past Steve Larmer (517) and into sixth place in Hawks history.

• Average ice time (22:56) will be a career low. Previous low was 23:26 during rookie season.

Brandon Saad

• Needs 2 goals for 150 in his career.

• Is 1 power-play goal from tying career high of 6.

• Needs 8 points to tie career high of 53.

• Shooting percentage of 12.4 second-best of career (13.3 is best).

• Average time on ice (17:43) a career high, besting last season's 17:30.

Artem Anisimov

• Has 1 power-play goal after recording team-best 11 last season.

• Average time on ice (16:12) lowest during his four seasons with Hawks.

Erik Gustafsson

• Became first true Hawks defenseman to score 15 goals in a season since Phil Housley in 2001-02.

• Tied for second among defensemen with 16 goals. Toronto's Morgan Rielly leads with 20.

Chris Kunitz

• Played his 1,000th game against New Jersey Feb. 14 at the United Center.

• Will set career lows in goals, assists, plus-minus and average ice time.

• Scored 265th career goal Feb. 24 against Dallas.

Connor Murphy

• Needs 1 goal to tie career high of 6, and has a career-best plus-15 rating.

Corey Crawford

• Needs 1 victory to avoid setting career low of 15; and 6 for 250 in career.

• Has career worst goals-against average of 2.94. Previous worst was 2.72 in 2011-12.

Cam Ward

• Has worst goals-against average of career (3.72). Previous worst was 3.68 during rookie season of 2005-06.

Team

• With Patrick Kane (41) and Alex DeBrincat (40), the Hawks have two 40-goal scorers for the first time since 1990-91 when Steve Larmer (44) and Jeremy Roenick (41) accomplished the feat.

• No team has had a worse penalty-kill percentage than the Hawks' 72.8 since the 1988-89 Toronto Maple Leafs (72.7). The Hawks currently have the 17th-worst kill rate in league history since the stat started being tracked in 1977-78. The 1979-80 L.A. Kings hold the record at 68.2.

For the Blackhawks' Alex DeBrincat, his numbers have improved year over year. John Starks/jstarks@dailyherald.com
