Two candidates who will listen in Elmhurst Dist. 205

As we approach April 2 (Election Day), I am grateful for the broad array of qualified and dedicated candidates seeking positions on the District 205 school board. Some of them I already know on a personal basis. Others I am eager to speak to in greater detail in order to learn about their ideas regarding leadership and community engagement.

The past few weeks, I have had an opportunity to spend time with two candidates in particular - Bojana Carey and Chris Kocinski. While they are not running on the same ticket, each reflects qualities that would make them exceptional additions to our board.

The community has approached our current board about multiple issues of late. Several of the topics they have referenced are complex. Just as many might be deemed "sensitive" because they force us to look at difficult situations that don't inherently have an easy answer.

I respect Bojana and Chris not because they agree with me on every point. My veneration for them stems from their willingness to evaluate every point. To listen, rather than merely hear. To tackle the tough angles that we may not always want to see - but that impact our community and therefore warrant time and attention.

Bojana and Chris are not the same person. Each has a professional background and personal approach that are the makings of unique benefits to our Board. Ultimately, however, both are fair, intelligent, and clearly committed to not just their community - but OUR community.

As an Elmhurst resident and mom of six (who attend three different local schools), I am totally confident Bojana Carey and Chris Kocinski deserve my vote. I hope you will step up for our community on April 2 and consider giving them yours.
