Lake Villa Twp. man charged in Ingleside break-in, shooting
A Lake Village Township man has been charged in a Feb. 9 Ingleside break-in and shooting, the Lake County sheriff's office announced Friday.
Jerome D. Freeman, 28, of the 36600 block of North Fairfield Road, was charged with home invasion, aggravated battery with a firearm, armed robbery and aggravated discharge of a firearm, a news release said.
At 5:45 a.m. Feb. 9, police responded to the 34600 block of North Gerberding Avenue in Ingleside. A pair of masked men with guns had broken in and demanded money, a news release said. Two guests at the home - a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old man - were shot.
By the time police arrived, the victims had left for the hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.
Freeman is being held in the Cook County jail on unrelated charges, the news release said. He will be transferred to the Lake County jail at the conclusion of his Cook County cases.
Authorities said they are still looking for the second gunman.
