Taos Art Museum Announces New Exhibition by Painter Kit Lynch
March 6, 2019 - Taos, NM - The Taos Art Museum at Fechin House will unveil a new exhibition in the Fechin Studio on March 12, 2019:.
Out of the Blue explores interesting twists in Lynch's journey as an artist that led to this point in her career. While her work often carries similar traits - bold color, sinuous movement, power of form, value contrast, and graceful yet energetic lines - she enjoys exploring the different processes of abstract, figurative, wildlife, studio landscape and plein air landscape. This exhibition will highlight the landscape, figurative, abstract and wildlife parts of Lynch's oeuvre, and what spurred her to begin each.
A resident of Pilar, NM, Lynch was raised in Glenview, IL and marched to the beat of a different drummer than the rest of her medically-oriented family. Lynch's interests throughout her life centered on wild scenic beauty, animals, color and dramatic action. She was invited to take an adult painting class at age 10 and the rest is history!
Lynch attended Chicago's American Academy of Art and the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Art. Named one of the "Best of the West" by Southwest Art Magazine, she has shown in galleries around the country and at the Nagasaki Peace Museum in Japan.
An opening reception for Out of the Blue-Animals to Abstracts will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, 2-4 pm. The exhibition will be on view through April 28, 2019.
Visitor Information Beginning in April, museum hours will be 10 AM-5 PM Tuesday-Sunday. The museum is closed Mondays. Admission is free for Taos Art Museum members; $10 Adult; $9 Senior; $6 Student; and free for Taos County residents every Sunday. There is no charge to view exhibitions in the Fechin Studio.
About the Taos Art Museum at Fechin House
The Taos Art Museum is housed in the studio and home that Nicolai Fechin, a famous Russian painter, built for his family between 1927 and 1933. The home itself is a masterpiece, blending Fechin's artistic sensibilities with Russian design elements and Southwestern adobe construction. The museum is dedicated to the art of early twentieth century Taos.
