Charter school spelling, geography bee winners advance in competitions

Two middle school students at Cambridge Lakes Charter School in Pingree Grove have advanced in area bee competitions for the second year in a row.

Eighth-grader Suryaninad Bhamidi will compete at the Illinois Geography Bee for the second consecutive year. Results were released on Monday, March 4.

The competition will take place at Heartland Community College in Normal on Friday, March 29.

Sixth-grader Pranav Kollu will compete at the regional Kane County Spelling Bee for the second consecutive year.

Last year, he won this competition and moved on to participate in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

The regional Kane County Spelling Bee is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m. at the Kane County Regional Office of Education in Geneva.

One year later, these same students are now one win away again from heading to the national competitions in Washington, D.C.
